Note to readers: This is a review of my personal journal from my time as a Peace Corps Volunteer in the Dominican Republic more than a decade ago. I have done my best not to change what I wrote, even if I feel differently now. Part of the joy of reading old journals is seeing a story arc where I’ve learned new things.

Possible mental disasters & eventualities

  • The drought of loneliness
  • A tornado of becoming convinced of my own incompetence
  • A y2k computer malfunction of making an inexcusably stupid mistake
  • Nuclear war: making an inexcusably huge mistake
  • Terrorist bomb: disrespect from others
  • Downward spirals of self-hate can cause a tropical storm
  • Multiple successive mental disasters on a tropical island could cause a tropical depression

The next entry is Today sucked ass, while the entry before this one is The first day I hate Peace Corps. You can see the journal entries as I post them here.If you’re just starting, here’s the first entry in the series.
